Triethylene glycol (TEG) is a colorless, odorless, non-volatile and hygroscopic liquid with the formula C6H14O4. It is used as a plasticizer for vinyl polymers as well as in the manufacture of airplane deicing fluids and plasticizers. TEG is also used as a solvent for inks, dyes, and paints. It is also used in the production of polyester resins and polyurethanes. TEG is used as a raw material for the production of diethylene glycol, which is used in the manufacture of polyester resins, plasticizers, and antifreeze.
